THE WHEELCHAIR SPORTS ASSOCIATION
The Wheelchair Sports Association of South Australia provides services to children, youth and adults who have a physical disability through accident, trauma, illness or a congenital birth defect.
Wheelchair Sport was originally introduced to South Australia in the 1950's. Since then, the Wheelchair Sports Association of South Australia evolved and has continued to be an important part of rehabilitation, development, sporting, recreation and social programs.
Our programs provide a range of activities that would help our members meet new people, get fit and increase their mobility, develop their skills and above all have fun.
Our members have identified services and programs which need to be provided for their benefit and development of life skills.
The objectives of our services are to provide sport, life skills and development for children, youth and adults with a physical disability.
It is our aim to assist in achieving their goals, no matter how big or small they may seem.
The programs are designed to encourage health, fitness, community awareness, achievement and leadership.
The Athlete Ambassador program is extremely valuable for the Junior and Youth Sports Program and encourages mentoring between elite senior athletes and aspiring juniors. |
