Life's for Living owes its existence to a group of parents who believed that their adult sons and daughters with disabilities had as much right as their non-disabled brothers and sisters to move from home and create an indepenedent life in the community. Many of their sons and daughters had significant disabilities and were often viewed by the majority as being unable to live a rich and rewarding life.
For the past two decades Life's for Living, alongside people with disabilities, their families and friends, with the support of staff have proven that no matter how significant the disability, people can and do live lives that reflect those of the rest of the community. They look after their homes, they go to work, access the services in the community and recreate with family and friends.
Life's for Living is almost entirely reliant on government grants to support its client group. It is a not for profit registered charitable organisation and donations are tax deductible. Life's for Living believes that life is enhanced by having the opportunity to plan for an occasional holiday, go to a concert or become a member of a group that advances a positive lifestyle. Government grants and disability support pensions often do not stretch far enough for this to occur for the people supported by Life's for Living. Donations received will be used for these activities and events. |
