Employing and supporting over 650 people, Bedford is one of the largest and most diverse training and employment organizations for people with a disability in Australia.
Our focus is on ensuring that people with a disability are provided with the work and life skills needed for independence, through on-job and accredited training programmes and real workplace employment.
Bedford's accredited training programme, developed in partnership with TAFE SA has resulted in over 300 people with a disability graduating with nationally recognised qualifications. In 2003, ongoing improvements to on-job and accredited training programmes were formally recognised when Bedford won the 'Employer of the Year' category at the South Australian Training Awards.
Bedford residential programmes allow people to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently. With a commitment to their residential centre and to providing homes in the community they aim to offer people with a disability, choices on how and where they want to live.
Bedford Work Placement is a service to assist people with a disability to find employment in the community - this includes people not currently working at Bedford. From help with resume presentation and interview skills to ensuring a person receives relevant support on the job, this service focuses on helping people achieve their goal of community employment.
As a non-profit organisation, Bedford's training, employment and residential programmes are made possible by the support of caring South Australian organisations and individuals. But, on-going community support is vital if Bedford is to meet the ever-increasing demands for its highly regarded services. |
