The Florey Medical Research Fund is named in honour of Howard Florey, who in 1945 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his work developing penicillin to clinical use: the antibiotics that nowadays save million of lives. The Florey Research Fund raises money to support the Adelaide Medical School’s research programme. Research is subject to strict peer review procedures to ensure that the highest possible standards of scientific merit and relevance are met.
